What is Product Subscriptions?

Product Subscriptions allow your shoppers to subscribe to individual products on a recurring basis. This feature provides a seamless experience for shoppers who want to receive regular deliveries, while also helping your business secure consistent and predictable revenue streams.

Product Subscriptions can be tailored with custom billing, shipping and discount settings, making it easy to meet different shopper needs.

Steps to create Product Subscriptions

Step 1. Access the Scenarios Section

Navigate to the Scenarios section in your dashboard. Under the "Product Subscriptions" scenario, click on "" to begin configuring your product subscription options.

Step 2. Create a "New Selling Plan"

Select the option to create a "New Selling Plan". This will allow you to set up and customize the subscription details for your selected products.

Step 3. Add Products to your "Selling Plan"

Choose the products you want to include in your new Selling Plan. You can select a single product or multiple items at once, depending on your subscription strategy.

Step 4. Configure the plan details of your "Selling Plan"

Adjust the plan settings to match your business requirements and the expectations of your customers. This includes key configurations to make your subscription plan appealing and efficient.

Step 4.1 Choose the Subscription Type

Decide if you want to offer the product as "Subscription Only" (available exclusively through a subscription) or as a "One-Time Purchase and Subscription" (allowing customers to choose either option).

If you select "One-Time Purchase and Subscription", you can set the Subscription as the default option.

Step 4.2 Add selling options

  • Recurring Period: Define how often the subscription will recur (e.g., weekly, monthly, or at custom intervals).

  • Pre-Paid Option: Decide if the subscription should be pre-paid and configure the timing for when the customer will be charged.

  • Max Subscription Cycles: Set a limit on the number of cycles a subscription can run, if applicable.

  • Discount Settings: Specify any discounts for subscribers, either as a percentage or a fixed amount.

  • Change Discounts: Choose to adjust the discounts after a certain number of cycles.

Step 5. Save changes

Once you have configured all the details of your selling plan to your satisfaction, click "Save Changes".

Product Subscriptions Customization

Step 6. Customize the Product Subscriptions Appearance

Navigate to the Design tab to customize the Selling option texts of your Selling Plans.

Step 7. Publish the Selling Plan

Once you’re satisfied with the setup, publish the Selling Plan. Your selling plan is now live and available for purchase in your store! 🎉

Product Subscriptions Placement

If you're setting up a selling plan for the first time, you'll need to place an App block on the product pages of the products included in that plan. Follow these improved steps for a smooth setup process:

Step 1: Publish Your Selling Plan

After creating your selling plan, the next step is to publish it. Upon clicking Publish, a pop-up will appear prompting you to add the App block to your store.

Step 2: Redirect to Shopify's Theme Editor

Click "Add to Store" in the pop-up. This action redirects you to Shopify's theme editor, opening the product template specified in the pop-up with an App block automatically placed on the page.

Step 3: Manually Add the App Block (if needed)

If the App block is missing or has been removed, follow these steps to add it manually:

  1. In the Shopify theme editor's left side panel, click on "Add block".

  2. Search under "Apps" for the application titled "Subscriptions".

  3. Click on the app name to add the App block to your product page.

Step 4: Finalize the Placement

Once you're satisfied with the placement of the App block, click on the "Save" button in the top-right corner of the theme editor.

Step 5: Verify and Confirm

Return to the Subscriptions app. If everything has been set up correctly, you’ll see a "Good job" message in the pop-up. Congratulations! Your selling plan is now live and ready for customers to subscribe! 🎉
