How to create a Checkout Upsell scenario

Enable a dynamic widget at checkout that shows matched offers based on the products in the cart - using rules to decide which products to display and when to display them.

What is Checkout Upsell?

Checkout Upsell is a feature in the "Amplify | Power Slide Cart" app that allows you to display a widget on the checkout page showing targeted product recommendations. These product suggestions are triggered by a rule engine: when a customer has specific products in the cart, the rule engine matches them to a defined rule and then displays the relevant upsell products. This helps increase average order value (AOV), improve conversion rates, and make sure the customer sees complementary or relevant add‑ons at the moment of checkout.

Steps to create a Checkout Upsell

  1. Go to Checkout Upsell

From the Amplify app, navigate to “Cart & Checkout” > "Scenarios" > "Checkout Upsell"

  1. Create a rule

Click on "New rule" to create the conditions from which the products shown at checkout will be selected

  1. Conditions

  • Add a trigger condition for "When" a product is in the cart

  • Add a result condition for "Then", which products will appear in the upsell

  • You can select conditions by specifying products, product titles, and product collections

  1. Discount

Click on "Settings" to configure the discount you want to offer for the Checkout Upsell

  1. Amount of products and widget title

From the Design tab, configure the Title you want to show and the maximum number of products that will be featured

How to add the Checkout Upsell to the Checkout page

  1. Add the widget to the checkout page

Before you enable the Scenario, you need to add the widget to the checkout page.

  • From Shopify Admin, click on "Settings"

  1. Click on "Checkout" and then "Customize" to be redirected to the theme editor for the Checkout page

  1. In the "Order summary" section, click on "Add block" and then select "Checkout Upsell"

  1. Once the App block appears at the top of the "Order summary" section, drag and drop it to reposition it.

  1. Once you are happy with the location of the widget, click on "Save" in the top right corner

  1. Activate the Scenario

Once the widget is added to the checkout page, go back to the application and Activate the Checkout Upsell Scenario
